Home care or concierge: what's the difference?

The word "concierge" covers very different jobs. For a second home owner, the distinction matters.

Home care: looking after the house

Home care means looking after a residence while its owners are away: regular inspection visits, reports, mail, coordination of tradespeople, garden and pool oversight, preparation before their return. It's also called home watch or property care. It's an ongoing, year-round service.

Private concierge: looking after the people

A private concierge steps in when you're here: daily housekeeping, a private chef, a driver, restaurant or boat bookings, wellness, organising a dinner. It relies on partners and works on request, subject to their availability.

Holiday-let concierge: a different job

Airbnb-type concierges manage letting a property: listings, welcoming guests, cleaning between stays. Their goal is to keep the property booked. If your home is reserved for your family and guests, it's not the service it needs.

Why combine the two

Home care and private concierge naturally complement each other: whoever knows your house all year round is best placed to prepare it before you arrive and organise your stay. That's the Onekis approach on the French Riviera: Property Care while you're away, Private Concierge while you're here, with a single point of contact.
